Treatment Approach

Dr. Austin utilizes body-centered and cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy, EMDR and teachings from several spiritual traditions especially the principles of mindfulness and nonattachment.

Dr. Austin believes our bodies hold a wealth of information.  When we begin to connect how we feel and move in our bodies with our thoughts and emotions, we can change deep-set patterns.  This can lead to long-lasting relief from emotional distress.  Instead of reacting to life events with automatic, outdated responses, we reclaim our ability to respond more intuitively and creatively to what comes our way in the present moment.
